Career Competencies

St. Kate’s Career Development works in partnership with the campus community to help Katies develop career competencies in eight key areas. The graphic below is adapted from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), which conducted comprehensive research to define eight core Career Readiness Competencies.

Click the button below if you’d like to read more about the skills associated with each NACE career competency.

At the Career Development office, we meet with students to provide guidance on topics like:

  • Planning for internships to get career-related experience
  • Navigating their career plans when choosing or changing majors
  • Conducting career research via personal assessment tools and conversations with alumni
  • Helping with resumes, cover letters, and job/internship/grad school application timelines
  • Seeking career insights from other campus resources, such as faculty and academic advising
