Leadership
Leadership is not a title but rather includes any person responsible for guiding and influencing others toward an outcome.
Efficacy
Effective leaders inspire, align, and activate others to follow. This comes first through understanding personal strengths. Effective leaders also understand the strengths of their teams and utilize team members’ strengths to best complement one another. Effective leaders know what their personal and team weaknesses are, but don’t dwell on them; focusing instead on what the team does well.
Endurance
According to Forbes (2025), endurance is the ability to “navigate adversity, chaos and change while remaining steady, focused and effective.” There are five pillars to developing endurance in leadership:
- Lead by Example
- Enduring leaders demonstrate their values through consistent actions, while remaining calm and solution-oriented when challenges arise.
- Bounce Back From Setbacks
- Resilient leaders treat setbacks as opportunities for growth. They also foster resilience within their teams, encouraging adaptability, open communication and problem-solving.
- Balance Vulnerability With Strength
- Leaders understand that vulnerability is not a weakness but a tool for building trust.
- Stay The Course
- Change is inevitable, and enduring leaders adapt while keeping their teams focused on long-term goals.
- Maintain Emotional And Physical Stamina
- Leaders who not only prioritize their own well-being, but also the well-being of their teams, create the conditions that allow their leadership to endure.
Ethics
Ethical leaders make decisions that are guided by six principles:
- Respect
- Accountability
- Service
- Honesty
- Justice
- Community
Ethical leadership helps organizations build trust, reduce risk, and create workplace cultures where employees feel respected and supported.
