Position Purpose and Department Overview:
The Information Technology Services Student Consultant serves as the first point of contact for students, faculty, and staff seeking technical assistance. Information Technology Services provides technical assistance around campus, in the Tech Hub, and remotely via email/phone/ticketing system. Training is provided, no experience is required.
Major Job Duties:
- Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware.
- Communicate with students, faculty, and staff via email, phone, and ticketing system
- Document issues and resolutions in ticketing system
- Direct unresolved issues to the next level of support
- Maintain cleanliness of computer labs around campus
- Update inventory system as needed
- Install, modify, and repair computer hardware and software
- Check out and check in Tech Hub loaner equipment
- Other duties as assigned by Helpdesk Leads and Helpdesk Staff
- IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING THIS JOB: The student worker has access to sensitive and confidential information. As such the student employee agrees that they will not modify, delete, or disclose any information without permission from a permanent staff member. Hours:
Summer: Monday-Thursday: 8am-5pm Friday: 8am-4pm
Fall/Spring: Monday-Friday: 8am-6pm
Scheduling is flexible and based on student worker’s availability. Students must be available to work a minimum of 12 hours a week during the times listed above. During Summer term students may work up to 40 hours a week. If the student has multiple on campus positions the 40 hour maximum is across all positions. International students may have visa restrictions that limit the maximum hours that can be worked in a week.
Once fully trained evening and weekend shifts are also available. January and Summer hours are available as well.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Available to work a minimum of 12 hours a week
- Must be able to bend, lift, squat, and carry up to 25lbs
- Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time
- Must be able to climb up ladders and stairs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Customer service experience
- Knowledge of Google Drive, Box, and Canvas
