Job Title: Tenant Organizing Internship

Location: Hybrid, The Greater Longfellow Neighborhood
Reports to: Community Organizer
Compensation: $500 stipend every 3 months
We are very excited to announce an opening for a part-time intern at the Longfellow Community Council. The internship will run through the summer, May – August with the opportunity to extend. You will join staff and passionate volunteers working to build connections between tenants and address current needs within the Greater Longfellow community. About Longfellow Community Council:
LCC is the resident participation group for the Cooper, Hiawatha, Howe, and Longfellow neighborhoods. LCC is a community-based organization that represents the interests of residents in the Greater Longfellow area. We develop, protect, and enhance neighborhood assets through community engagement. The mission of the Longfellow Community Council is to improve the well-being of our diverse community through engagement, involvement, and empowerment.
About the Position:
LCC seeks a motivated, passionate, socially conscious, and community-oriented intern to help us grow our building ambassador program and help address the needs of renters in our community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Become connected with apartment complexes and renters within Greater Longfellow
- Support growth and participation in our building ambassador program
- Be a connection between tenants and the Longfellow Community Council
- Work with our Equitable Development Committee to address the immediate needs of renters in Greater Longfellow
Qualifications:
- Ability to build relationships with a wide range of individuals and organizations
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience working with diverse communities and a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion
- Interest in making the world a better place – one neighborhood at a time
- Comfortable with public speaking
We are looking for someone who is:
- Enthusiastic, outgoing, patient, and persistent
- A self-directed self-starter
- Team-oriented, with a good sense of humor, and a sense of camaraderie
- Adventurous and willing to jump into spaces they may not be familiar or comfortable with
- Preferably familiar with multiple languages
- Preferably pursuing a degree in a related field(s)
