Pay Rate: $16.37

*This is a PAID internship, open to all student across all majors. In order to be paid and earn academic credit students must enroll in the Business or Leadership Practicum course.

ABOUT KATIE’S CLOSET

Katie’s Closet is a free store that provides professional wear to anybody who needs it at St. Catherine University. Their mission is to provide equal access opportunities to help people prepare for interviewing and “dressing your best.“

POSITION PURPOSE
The Merchandising Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of Katie’s Closet, St. Catherine University’s student-operated store that provides free professional and casual attire to students. This role combines creative and analytical skills, helping manage inventory, track trends in clothing use and donations, and maintain an organized, welcoming environment. The Merchandising Assistant helps share Katie’s Closet’s mission of empowering students by building confidence, sustainability, and community through accessible fashion.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES
– Manage and track inventory of clothing and accessories, including sorting, tagging, restocking, and maintaining accurate records.
– Conduct usage and donation analysis to identify popular categories, sizing needs, and trends that inform store decisions.
– Create and maintain organized and appealing product displays that align with Katie’s Closet’s mission and seasonal themes.
– Assist in planning and coordinating donation drives or special store events.
– Collaborate with the Marketing Assistant to share data insights and align displays with promotions or campaigns.
– Support day-to-day store operations, including assisting visitors, managing fitting spaces, and maintaining store cleanliness.
– Prepare basic reports on inventory movement, product mix, and visitor usage to guide future planning.
– Maintain confidentiality and represent Katie’s Closet with professionalism and inclusivity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
– Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
– Ability to lift, arrange, and transport clothing and display items safely.
– Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, or basic inventory tools.
– Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or collaboratively.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Coursework or experience in fashion merchandising, retail operations, or data analysis.
– Familiarity with visual merchandising techniques and retail management systems.
– Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets for tracking and analysis.
– Interest in sustainability, fashion, or social impact initiatives.
