Program Description:
Community Leader student employees work at nonprofit organizations around the Twin Cities. They build leadership and professional experience through these wonderful internship opportunities. Community Leaders positions are a joint collaboration through St. Kate’s Center for Community Work and Learning (CWL), St. Kate’s student employment, and the internship site named here. You are paid via St. Kate’s and managed by both the CWL Office and the site at which you work.
As a Community Leader, you will have the opportunity to deepen your academic area of study and gain work experience within a field. These positions are open to students who will be of sophomore through senior status as of Fall of 2023. If you are interested in registering for academic credit, you must get in contact with the Career Development Office to learn about those requirements. The financial need of an applicant, based on FAFSA results, will be taking into consideration when reviewing applications.
Site Description:
Dress for Success Twin Cities empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. We offer high touch, high impact career and workplace skills development programs for low-income women to help them achieve career advancement and career stability.
Position Description:
The Program Intern supports emPower U and the Suiting Program, Dress for Success Twin Cities’ largest programs. They ensure daily operations run smoothly, working with the Confidence Center Coordinator and Program Manager to ensure the goals of both programs are met. This position offers a mixture of client calls, administrative duties, working in the clothing warehouse, and project-based work. Interns will assist in running the front desk virtually and daily operations such as directing phone calls, taking phone messages, and typing emails, scheduling client appointments, and working with referral agencies. You will assist with clothing donation processing, creating and delivering clothing packages to clients, and integrating school coursework as it applies through their working experience – to be discussed and strategized by individual students and the Dress for Success Twin Cities Staff. They will also help implement volunteer recruitment and retention strategies and will become familiar with all Dress for Success Twin Cities programming.
Requirements:
Ability to speak clearly on the phone, gather accurate phone information, and follow-through with directions. In addition, the intern should be able to use excel for managing volunteer data. Ability to stand, bend and lift up to 15lbs may sometimes be required, transportation a plus.
Schedule and Earnings
● Work approx. 12 hours per week during the semester
● Make $15.39 per hour
● Participate in mandatory orientation and paid Professional Development and reflection sessions

Application Requirements
- Preference will be given to Pell Grant recipients.
- Applications will be screened in advance of interviews and selected candidates will move forward to the interview stage.
- More information will be sent out about the Community Leaders program structure and you will be informed of which organizations you will be interviewing at.
- Interviews will take place with the organization either virtually or in person based on the site supervisor’s availability.
