Summary of Position: Teach and instruct children (levels range from K-6) according to HHYD’s mission (see below), Character Development Curriculum, and Minnesota State Standards in Math and Reading.
Mission Statement: Hospitality House Youth Development (HHYD) provides a Christian outreach, focused on the spiritual, intellectual and physical development of inner city youth and their families.
Qualifications:
- On site classes (4-7 Students)
- Enthusiasm for teaching urban youth
- Flexibility in schedule changes
- Collaborative with colleagues
- Knowledge of MN education standards
- Familiar (or willingness to learn and implement) Character Development Curriculum
- Strong classroom management skills
- Teaching experiences in classroom setting preferred
- Need to provide own transportation
Dress Code: Casual, yet conservative
Prominent Duties:
- Working in small groups Willingness to be onsite and do distance learning
- Organize and prepare age appropriate curriculum and learning materials
- Teach according to Individual Learning Plans
- lead with monitoring students’ progress, including grading and documentation
- Demonstrate proficient communication skills with students, co-workers and volunteers
- Aid with organization and behavioral management of class
- Provide creative feedback to classroom teacher to promote further learning
