We publish almost anything, with books as our core product, as long as it doesn’t go against our personal or faith-based values.
We are currently seeking a team of kind, creative, proactive, and motivated publicists with whom we are excited to work alongside every day to help our company, our creators, and our creative works gain exposure and recognition in the marketplace to ultimately increase sales and to inspire others, especially children.
Position Overview
As a Publicist and Junior Business Partner, you will actively create and execute publicity campaigns for both our company and our creators. Your responsibilities will span building media relationships, securing interviews and reviews, getting our books into book clubs, driving the visibility of our creators and products, and more. You will also be instrumental in developing promotional strategies for our current and future works, such as our upcoming YA fantasy novel series, starting with the first release in May 2025. This series has tight deadlines coming up, so we will expect you to work hard from the beginning.
As a publicist and team member, you will work alongside other publicists and team members remotely. Being in the indie publishing space, you will get to enjoy creative autonomy, and you will be encouraged to think outside the box while understanding that inside the box is just as important too.
10-15 Hours; Profit Sharing
You are being brought on as a junior business partner (Schedule K-1 tax form) not as an employee (W-2 tax form) or independent contractor (1099 tax form); this is a profit-sharing position, not an hourly or salary position. The company is an upstart, so do not expect pay immediately, though you are expected to work 2-3 hours per day, 10-15 hours per week as a junior business partner. Primary Responsibilities
- Book Clubs: Support the team by helping create contacts, develop relationships, and get the products into various clubs, such as book clubs.
- Influencer and Media Networking: Build and maintain strong relationships with influencers, podcast hosts, book clubs, reviewers, bloggers, journalists, and other media outlets to enhance exposure and drive sales for our products.
- Newsletters: Coordinate with the team and creators on the preparation of our company’s monthly newsletters. Craft and send the newsletters and associated marketing emails that will be sent out to our followers and customers.
- Pitching and Securing Coverage: Craft compelling pitches and secure media coverage, such as podcast interviews, features, book reviews, news articles, magazine articles, and event opportunities.
- Relationship Building: Make contacts, add contacts to company databases, build relationships, and utilize the relationships to drive publicity and sales daily.
- Reviews: Obtain reviews for Goodreads, Amazon, and elsewhere and to be placed with or into the products.
- Social Media Management: Craft and post messages, videos, or other types of posts every day through various social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and Discord. Your focus will be to promote and amplify our publishing company, our creative works, and our creators’ platforms and to engage the target audience alongside our clients’ publicity initiatives.
As Needed Responsibilities
- Advertising Campaigns: Plan and execute advertising campaigns once the company has funds for these campaigns.
- Campaign Monitoring and Reporting: Track media coverage and campaign effectiveness, providing detailed reports and insights to optimize future efforts.
- Content Creation: Craft press releases, media kits, and other promotional materials that align with the overall publicity campaign strategies.
- Event Coordination: Plan and execute virtual and in-person book tours, book signings, panel discussions, fairs, book cover reveals, release parties (leading up to the release events), contests, and other events that build visibility.
- Marketing Analyses: Perform competitor, trend, and market research analyses using surveys, focus groups, and demographics.
Expectations
- Teamwork: Work with and communicate with your fellow publicists and team members daily to maximize your strengths and to continually motivate each other. Expect to communicate and work together via video conferences such as through our company’s internal Discord server and through email.
- Video Conferences: Coordinate and participate in regular weekly online video conference calls with creators and other team members, providing clear updates, reports, and guidance on publicity efforts. Expect to have a team meeting before and after the meeting with the creators.
- Written Reports: Submit a weekly written report to the team and a report for the creators the night before or the morning of each weekly meeting.

- Coaching: Work closely with our creators and our team to help us (our team and our creators) develop and refine our brands, platforms, social media presence, and abilities to effectively engage with the media and the public.
- Creative Skills: Be creative by brainstorming, discovering, crafting, and strategically implementing other ways to boost our company’s and our creators’ publicity campaigns.
- Industry Awareness: Develop a keen knowledge of publishing industry trends and media opportunities, staying informed to strategically adapt and maximize exposure.
Required Qualifications
- 2-3 hours per day, 10-15 hours per week to dedicate to this position
- 3.0 GPA in your respective program with 90 college credits towards completing or have completed a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Publishing, or related field
- Proficient in using various social media platforms
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills

Compensation and Contractual Terms
1. Ownership Interest’s Terms
1.1 Ownership Transfer and Restrictions. The Ownership Interest is non-transferable to any party except Nathanial Isaacson or his designated assignee or beneficiary. If the Ownership Interest is revoked, the Member will retain entitlement to any compensation due from future net profits based on eligible hours worked up to the date of revocation.
1.2 Consideration. In exchange for the Ownership Interest, the Member agrees to perform tasks that contribute to AAP’s profitability. Initial duties and compensation terms are outlined below, and any future adjustments will be appended as mutually agreed-upon addenda to this Agreement.
2. Initial Duties and Compensation Structure
2.1 Project Assignment and Hours. AAP’s publisher shall assign 40 core hours (“Core Hours”) and 20 non-core hours (“Non-Core Hours”) per calendar week to a designated project lead (the “Project Lead”). The Project Lead will then allocate tasks to the project team (“Project Team”) as core tasks (“Core Tasks”) or non-core tasks (“Non-Core Tasks”), based on the designated Core Hours and Non-Core Hours, respectively, for each project (the “Project”). The start date for each Project (“Project Start Date”) is the authorized start date for members to perform said tasks on the Project.
2.2 Payout Calculation. Member payouts will be determined based on the following factors, derived from the Project Start Date to the project payout statement date (Project Payout Statement Date”):
- “Variable A”: Number of weeks from the Project Start Date to the Project Payout Statement Date.
- “Variable B”: Total Core Hours worked by the Project Team within this period.
- “Variable C”: Average Core Hours worked per week by the Project Team, calculated as Variable B divided by Variable A.
- “Variable D”: If Variable C is equal to or greater than 40, Variable D equals 40; otherwise, Variable D equals Variable C.
- “Variable E”: Member’s share percentage, calculated as Variable D divided by 100.
- “Variable F”: Share of net profits, derived by multiplying Variable E by the net profits of the Project, as listed on the Project Payout Statement.
- “Variable G”: Payout rate per Core Hour worked by the Member, calculated as Variable F divided by Variable B.
In no instance shall more than 40% of the Project’s net profits be paid out to the Project Team.
2.3 Payment Schedule. Project payouts and Project Payout Statements will occur and be sent at least twice annually:
- April 15 for the statement period covering July 1 through December 31 of the prior year, and
- October 15th for the statement period covering January 1 through June 30 of the current year.
2.4 Minimum Payment Threshold. Compensation will only be paid if the Member’s total due compensation for a given period is $10 or more. If compensation is less than $10, it will carry over to the next payment period until the threshold is met.
2.5 Tax Reporting. AAP will provide the Member with a Schedule K-1 tax form annually, documenting the Member’s share of income, deductions, and credits related to their Ownership Interest.
