Queering the Workplace: Career Drop-In Hours

In honor of the International Transgender Day of Visibility, the Career Development Office is hosting drop-in hours for folks who identify as trans, non-binary, Two-Spirit, agender, or other identities that may fall under the trans identity umbrella. Our staff will be available to answer questions, and provide resources on topics such as: professional dress, assessing company safety, coming out in the workplace, and more. If you are unable to attend the event, you can also choose to anonymously fill out a Google Form. Watch for that form link in a Handshake email and Career Development’s Instagram. If you choose to stay anonymous, we will be sharing a list of the questions and our responses onto the KatieCareer virtual center. While this event is specifically designed for folks who identify in some way with the identity of trans, we also welcome allies who are looking to learn how to foster inclusive environments and promote safe and equitable workplaces.

A Note on the Title:
We use the term queer as an umbrella term to refer to all folks who identify within the LGBTQIA2S+ spectrum. “Queering” is a theoretical tool from queer theory that seeks to analyze places in which hetero- and cis-normativity are especially common. We recognize that the term queer is a reclaimed slur, and may not be a comfortable term for everyone. If you would like us to change the name of the event, please reach out to mnkluver199@stkate.edu and we will change it immediately.
