In your education internship as a Camp Counselor, you’ll spend your days leading activities with campers, including games, campfires, and arts & crafts and more. Learn about managing groups of children while being supported by fellow counselors. Practice classroom management techniques and different teaching styles with a variety of age groups.
PAY Starting at $432/week for approx. 10 weeks; estimated $4,258 for the entire season. Housing and meals are included.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Able to walk and stand for long periods of time on walkways and trails that may be uneven.
- Able to carry, life, push, pull, or otherwise move heavy objects, supplies, or luggage.
- Able to recognize, respond to and care for visible and verbal signs of children’s distress.
- Able to live in a space with other and eat meals in a large, noisy environment.
- Emotionally resilient and capable of appropriate and sustained mental, emotional and social interactions in a constantly changing, youth-centered and community living setting.
SUMMARY OF CAMP SETTING Camp Sacajawea averages 90-150 campers and 50 staff on-site at a time. Camper session lengths vary, though most are 6 days, 5 nights with weekend breaks in between different groups of campers. Some sessions are shorter, weekend programs for families. We expect to serve around 1,600 campers in total this summer. Some of our camp sessions include out-of-camp trips. Campers range in age from 5-17.
Campers are divided into 6 groups (themed camp sessions). Camp Counselors are assigned to work with one group at a time. This position is required to live on-site; room and board is provided. Camp Counselors reside in a cabin or platform tent nearby, but separate from, campers.
